The wild rose plant is an old rose that resembles modern roses in fragrance and texture. There are over 100 types of wild rose. All share a common appearance and can be easily distinguished from tea roses. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Appearance

    • The major different between wild rose blossoms and tea rose blossoms are the petals: wild roses feature five petals. The petals have the same silky feel as tea rose petals.

    Color

    • Wild rose blossoms come in many colors, including white, pink, red, yellow and cream. Wild roses feature a cluster of yellow stamens in the center of the flower.

    Plant

    • The leaves and stems of wild rose plants look like those of the more familiar tea roses. Wild roses have thorns and tear-shaped leaves and can grow as shrubs or vines.

    Care

    • Unlike tea roses, wild rose plants require little care. You may want to prune the bushes annually to remove dead wood and you'll need to water, but there's little danger of disease or plant death.

    Geography

    • There are wild rose plants native to Europe, Asia and North America. Wild roses are the parent plant of tea roses.
