Sphynx Kitten Information

The Sphynx cat is an unusual looking breed. Many people choose to bring a Sphynx kitten into their home because of their loving nature and unique appearance.

  1. History

    • The Sphynx cat breed was first introduced in 1966 after a domestic cat gave birth to a litter of hairless kittens in Toronto, Canada.

    Appearance

    • Sphynx cats and kittens are not completely hairless, although they appear to be. Most of their body is covered in peach fuzz at birth and into adulthood. In kittens, the skin is wrinkled. In addition, they can be many different colors including, blue, chocolate, lilac, black and tortoiseshell.

    Hypoallergenic

    • Many people purchase a Sphynx kitten with the assumption that they are hypoallergenic; however, they still produce dander meaning people could still have an allergic reaction.

    Development

    • After twelve weeks, a Sphynx kitten is developed enough physically and socially to adapt to a new environment. Many breeders make Sphynx available between 12 to 16 weeks of age.

    Temperament

    • Sphynx kittens are very active and will continue to be active into adult adulthood. In addition, they want to be the center of attention.
