What to Expect for a Hospital Job Interview
Interviewing for a hospital job can be simple or detailed depending on the type of position you are applying for and the requirements for the job. Preparation and knowledge of the facility can go a long way in preparing you for your interview.

General preparation

To prepare for the interview, learn as much as possible about the healthcare facility where the interview will be held. Potential employers appreciate a job candidate that has the interest level to research their future employer.
Number of interviewers

Depending on the position you apply for, you may be interviewed by one to 15 or more people. Administrative applicants usually visit with the staff in the department in which they will work and the human resources department, while medical professionals generally interview with managers in their department as well as chief administrative professionals.

Schedule

Administrative interviews generally start in human resources and then are directed to meet with the department staff. Followup interviews will be with department staff and then human resources if an offer is made.
Physicians and medical professionals may have a one full-day schedule when they meet with a recruiter for the medical facility, compliance and risk management, administrators, other physicians or medical staff and finance departments.
Medical Requirements

Health-care environments are healing environments, so in many cases they require that you provide immunization records and submit to drug testing. If you need your immunization made current, you can get those done before starting employment. A tuberculosis test is usually done.
Paperwork

The last piece of the interview is the paperwork. If an employment application has not been filled out, this may need to be done. There may be a credit check.
