Alternatives to a Pay Pal Account
PayPal provides a way for buyers and sellers to send and receive money online. For buyers, sending money is free; for sellers, PayPal charges a percentage fee for each transaction. If you want to send or receive money online without using a PayPal account, you have several alternatives.
-
Checkout by Amazon
-
Amazon.com provides an option for other e-commerce merchants to accept payments. Amazon provides the same checkout button to e-commerce merchants that Amazon's customers are familiar with. Sign-up is free.
Google Checkout
-
Another alternative to PayPal is Google Checkout. Account set-up is free, and customers can press a "buy now" button to make purchases. Google provides the code, so you don't need HTML experience.
-
Paymate
-
Paymate.com is an online payment service provider that has been around as long as PayPal. Sites such as eBay, which once used PayPal as a primary payment method, now accept Paymate as well.
Merchant Accounts
-
Competition has made opening up a merchant account easier than it once was. Having your own merchant account allows you to accept credit cards. A credit check is required.
Checks and Money Orders
-
Sending and receiving a check or money order in the mail is still a safe alternative to PayPal. It may be a slower process, but it still provides a means of tracking and showing proof of payment. The downside is the delay in receiving the payment and shipping the product.
