Bank Jobs Defined

You don't have to be a financial genius to work at a bank. A wide variety of positions are available. Some positions require only a high school diploma, although all positions require basic math skills. If you want a career in banking, below are the definitions of some of the more common bank jobs.

  1. Teller

    • A bank teller is responsible for handling deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments. They also help the bank's customers with any concerns they may have.

    Branch Manager

    • The branch manager at a bank supervises the tellers and other staff at that branch. A branch managers is also responsible for developing a business plan for his branch.

    Loan Officer

    • A loan officer helps customers take out loans, including mortgages, from the bank. It is her responsibility to evaluate the customer's credit and to act as an intermediary between the customer and the bank.

    Financial Adviser

    • Financial advisers provide information and advice to a bank's customers about investments and financial planning. They either receive a commission for their services or are paid by a fee-based structure.

    Credit Analyst

    • Credit analysts evaluate loan applications to determine if the potential borrower will be able to fulfill the obligations of his loan.
