How Do Celebrities Grow Hair So Fast?

Celebrities don't grow hair any faster than the rest of us. They buy it. Hair "extensions" are attached to natural hair to instantly give a glamorous new, long look.

Who wears extensions?

Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson are just two celebrities who are known for wearing hair extensions. In fact, they're such fans of extensions that they have created their own lines. Hilton's "DreamCatchers" line includes headbands with attached hair pieces. Simpson teamed with her hairstylist Ken Paves to create HairDo clip-in extensions.

How they work

Hair extensions are made of human hair or synthetic hair. They can be clipped in, attached with an adhesive glue or woven into existing hair.

Cost

One clip-in piece can cost less than $10. A full set of extensions generally start at about $100. Salon prices will vary, depending on location and style.

How long will they last?

After four to six weeks, a maintenance appointment may be necessary to tidy up the extensions. Extensions can last up to four months, but they will grow out as your hair does.

It'll be your secret

Flip through the pages of any celebrity magazine and see if you can spot the extensions. You probably can't. The same will be true for you. No one will know you have extensions, but some might wonder how your hair grew so quickly.
