A rare disease known as epidermolysis bullosa can cause weakening of the skin. Other symptoms of this rare disease are pain, skin sensitivity, lesions, bumps or scratches.

Corticosteroid creams or oral antihistamines are safe treatments for dry skin in children.
Blisters

Some skin diseases can cause severe blisters. The blisters must be drained.

Atopic eczema is a skin disease that shows up periodically, resulting in flare-ups. Flare-ups can cause redness, itchiness and blisters. It is commonly seen in children under the age of five.
