Safety Rating for a Ford Escape

Safety features included on the 2010 Ford Escape include side airbags, rollover sensor, electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes. Daytime running lights are also available on fleet vehicles.

Safety Crash Tests

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts safety crash tests for the Ford Escape. The four ratings given by the IIHS are "Good" (green G), "Acceptable" (yellow A), "Marginal" (orange M) and "Poor" (red P).

Side Impact Test

The 2010 Ford Escape received an overall G rating for the side impact test, which measure injury outcomes for the driver and passenger's head/neck, torso and pelvis/leg, head protection and safety/structure cage. Exceptions to the G rating were the driver pelvis/leg injury measure and structure/safety cage, which both received an A rating.

Frontal Offset Test

The 2010 Ford Escape received an overall G rating for the frontal offset test. This included injury measures for the chest and left leg/foot. The right leg/foot injury measure received an A rating.

Rear Crash Projections

The 2010 Ford Escape received an overall G rating for rear crash projections on head/neck restraints for each seat.

Roof Strength

The 2010 Ford Escape received an overall M rating for the roof strength evaluation.
