What Is a Clean Criminal Background Check?
When you receive a clean criminal background check, it means that there are no criminal convictions listed within the criminal database that was checked. A clean criminal background check is often required for certain jobs or volunteer positions.

Benefits
-
The significance of a clean criminal background check is that it provides clearance for many different situations, such as a job, volunteer position or international adoption.
Types
-
There are a number of different types of criminal background checks. Some only check for local arrests or convictions, others only check the last 10 years, while others are more thorough and check for all local, state and federal convictions.
-
Misconceptions
-
A clean criminal background check does not necessarily mean that the person has never been arrested or convicted of a crime. Some crimes are 'expunged' or taken off your record after a certain period of time or after you complete the court's order.
Time Frame
-
A clean criminal background check is just a snapshot in time and will need to be updated periodically to ensure that there are no convictions that were recorded after the clean background check was reported.
Warning
-
In most states, criminal convictions that occurred in juvenile court will not be noted on a criminal background check, so somebody who was convicted of a crime when they were under the age of 18 could still receive a clean criminal background report as an adult.
