Immunizations Required for US Immigration Visas

United States immigration law requires that those who are applying for an immigration visa obtain a series of immunizations. The physicians who examine the applicants before entering into the country must make sure that all vaccinations have been obtained.

  1. Types

    • The vaccinations that are required are Acellular pertussis, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, HPV, Influenza, Influenza B, Measles, Meningococcal, Mumps, Pneumococcal, Pertussis, Polio, Rotovirus, Tetanus, Varicella, and Zoster.

    Exceptions

    • The panel physicians who conduct the examinations may conclude that it is medically inappropriate for the immigration applicant to receive one or more of these vaccinations.

    Considerations

    • U.S. immigration visa applicants should have their vaccination records ready and available when they report for their medical appointment.

    Potential

    • Visa applicants can obtain their vaccination records from their current physician in their country of origin. If they do not have a vaccination record, then the panel physicians will determine what vaccinations they need to get.

    Insight

    • Waivers of certain vaccinations may be given out by the panel physicians depending on age, medical history, and current medical condition.
