What Is Thermal Heating?

Thermal heating can simply be defined as the motion of molecules and atoms within matter that produces energy. On the basic level this is how energy such as heat is created. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Kinetic Energy

    • Understanding thermal energy is also about understanding how kinetic energy is related to the process. When you add heat to an object, the temperature increases the kinetic energy of the molecules of the object. So as the molecules increase in kinetic energy, the thermal heating or temperature of an object rises.

    Thermodynamics

    • Thermodynamics is the next step within the process of understanding how thermal energy works. Energy operates by specific principles which define temperature, the transformation of energy, how heat deteriorates, and the theory of how thermal energy ceases to exist all together.

    Temperature

    • Temperature is also a major factor with thermal energy because temperature is the output of the work that is created through the process of kinetic energy.

    Solar Energy

    • The sun creates most of the thermal heat that the Earth receives. This heat can be processed through the use of technology into electricity or energy to heat homes.

    Geo Energy

    • Geo energy derives from the thermal energy that resides within the Earth. Normally this type of thermal heating occurs from radioactive decay of minerals and from solar energy absorbed at the surface of the Earth.
