What Is a Sling Purse?

A majority of women in today's world carry some type of purse. There are many options to choose from, such as small purses, hobo bags, clutches, large totes, and sling purses. In particular, a sling purse is a cross between a purse and a backpack. It is a one-shoulder bag that has a smaller bag portion than a backpack.

    Function

  1. A sling purse has many different functions as a purse. Being a one-shoulder purse, it allows you to keep your hands free instead of hanging onto purse straps. Most sling purses come with many little pockets that allow you to be organized and keep certain things separate.
  2. Style

  3. The sling purse is a one-shoulder bag, meaning that it has only one strap. This one strap is on one shoulder and the bag goes across your body. The sling purse sits on your body much like a seat belt does in a car.
  4. Strap Features

  5. The strap on the sling purse can be adjusted in most cases so that the bag can lie on your body where you want it to. Also, many sling purse straps come with padding, varying in different amounts. The durability of the strap on the sling purse also varies depending on how wide or thin it is and what material it is made of.
  6. Materials

  7. Sling purses can be made out of many materials, such as canvas, leather, or denim. Other materials include, but are not limited to, nylon, suede, and satin.
  8. Location

  9. If you are looking to find a sling purse, you should look in the purse section of the store. Department stores and chain stores such as Target or Walmart carry sling purses, and they can usually be purchased for less than $25. If you want to spend more money, you can also buy designer sling purses at various locations as well as online.
