Class Ring Etiquette

Receiving a class ring is a mark of accomplishment, since you had to make it all the way through your academic institution before you could receive one. However, once you have the ring, make sure that you follow proper etiquette when wearing it.

  1. Hand

    • Your class ring should always be worn on your right hand, never on your left.

    Finger

    • Your class ring should also be worn on your ring finger, hence the name.

    Facing

    • When wearing your class ring, you should be able to read the words on it when you hold your arm up in front of you.

    Gender

    • Make sure that you order a ring appropriate to your gender. A woman's ring looks odd on a man's hand, and vice-versa.

    Occasion

    • College rings are meant for casual wear, but they tend to be rather loud in their declaration of you as a graduate. Avoid wearing them in formal situations, unless that occasion is directly related to your academic standing, such as a class reunion.
