Verizon and Comcast offer high-speed Internet. Comcast offers "blazing fast" speeds. The company provides high Internet speeds of 12, 16, 22 and 50 mbps, or megabits per second. It also offers McAfee security software, valued at $120, for free when you purchase the Internet service.
Verizon Wireless: Features

Verizon Wireless also has high-speed Internet. It offers speeds of 1, 3 and up to 7.1 mbps. Most of the plans also offer a free modem and free wi-fi spots all over the United States.

Comcast often has specials where you can pay a smaller price for six months and then the full price after that. Comcast offers the smaller plan at $24.95 a month to the highest speed of 50 mbps for $99.95 a month.
Verizon Wireless: Prices

Decide which company has the better service. Verizon has three plans available for Internet service. As of 2009, the first plan has speeds of 1 mbps for $19.99. The second plan has speeds of 3 mbps for the price of $29.99 a month. Lastly, the third plan has speeds of up to 7.1 mbps for the price of $42.99 a month.

It depends on what you need with your Internet service. If you download a lot of files, you may need a faster speed, which Comcast offers. If you don't need a faster speed, but a lower price, you may go with Verizon.
