  1. What is a Thyroid Nodule?

    • A thyroid nodule, or a goiter, is an enlargement of the thyroid gland due to the inability to produce the proper hormones. This condition is frequently caused by an iodine deficiency.

    Symptoms

    • Symptoms of a thyroid nodule can be different in each individual. An individual may experience hyperhthyroidism symptoms such as: insomnia, weight loss and tremors, or hypothyroidism symptoms: weight gain, depression and fatigue.

    • Iodine is necessary for the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormone which stimulates growth. When there is an iodine deficiency, less hormone is produced and an individual develops hypothyroidism.
