Agi Diamonds Vs. Synthetic Diamonds

Man-made diamonds are growing in popularity every day. Over the past 50 years, technology has allowed us to manufacture our own diamonds. Agi diamonds are real diamonds, whereas synthetic diamonds are man-made. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Agi

    • Agi is a certified diamond company founded in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1958. It does not manufacture its diamonds. It sells diamonds of all carats, clarities and colors.

    Synthetic Diamonds

    • Synthetic diamonds were first developed in the Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget (ASEA), a laboratory in Stockholm, Sweden. They are entirely man-made.

    Origin of an Agi Diamond

    • Because Agi diamonds are real diamonds, they are formed by high pressure being applied to carbon-bearing materials in the Earth. A lot of time must pass for the material to become a diamond. The carat, clarity, and color of the diamond is decided by nature.

    Origin of a Synthetic Diamond

    • Synthetic diamonds are created in a lab. They also undergo treatment of high pressure known as G-POL. The diamond can be created in seven to 10 days. The carat, clarity, and color of the diamond can be manipulated in the lab.

    Appearance

    • Synthetic diamonds can be crafted to resemble any style or quality of a real diamond. To the untrained eye, it is very difficult to tell the difference between a synthetic diamond and a real diamond.

    Price

    • Agi diamonds are more expensive than synthetic diamonds. Synthetic diamonds are cheaper because they can easily be mass produced. They are not rare like real diamonds.
