Hair treatment for this millennium seems to have followed the same course as practically everything else: shinier, cooler and more expensive. When compared to older brushes, the LaserComb is all of these, and is based on sound science and observation. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Origins

    • The LaserComb concept is actually an accidental byproduct of laser hair removal. Research into laser hair stimulation was pursued when it was discovered that hairs which only received some of the removal-laser's light actually grew back thicker and stronger.

    Laser Function

    • Hair removal and stimulation lasers are based on the same principle: the wavelength of laser light is selected specifically to damage the melanin in hair. The only difference is that removal lasers boil the melanin and kill the follicle, while stimulation lasers only slightly damage it.

    Cell Regrowth

    • Hair follicles are like muscle tissue in that if only slight damage is encountered, the body will send resources to repair the affected tissue bigger and stronger than it was.

    Laser Light

    • Whereas removal lasers must be carefully matched to skin and hair color, the red laser light emitted by the LaserComb is specific but gentle enough to target hair melanin without damaging the skin.

    Sunlight

    • The laser-light stimulation principle can also be applied to sunlight, but comes without the sun's hair-damaging UV radiation.
