Acid reflux in infants usually will clear up on its own between twelve and eighteen months of age.

Smaller feedings can help to lessen the symptoms of acid reflux by not causing overeating.

Burping

Babies who suffer from acid reflux should be burped regularly during feedings.

Crib Incline

The head of the crib mattress should be elevated to help prevent the baby from choking if he spits up in his sleep. It can also help to prevent the acid from traveling upward out of the stomach.

Other Methods

As a last resort, medication may be prescribed. In severe cases, surgery may be needed to enable the baby to properly gain weight and remain healthy.
