Grants for GED

A test score of 60 percent or higher qualifies those who have taken the GED test to receive a certificate of high school diploma equivalency. Some states provide free money to help those students to take the GED test or continue their education beyond a GED class.

  1. Georgia HOPE

    • This award is given to students who have completed their GED courses after June 1993 in the state of Georgia. The recipient receives a check for $500. This money can be used for a student's educational advancement. The student doesn't have to be full-time.

    Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program

    • The student Florida financial aid application, community service records, SAT/ACT, High School transcript and your GED score are necessary for the grant. An unknown amount of money is awarded to all recipients and can be used toward continuing education.

    Harold and Julia Kenney Collegiate Monetary Grants

    • The sum of this grant is $250. This grant is provided to high school and GED students so that they can go to school after they graduate. This money is only awarded to the Putnam County, Illinois community school district.

    Military Federal Student Aid Program

    • The military federal student aid program provides money for GED recipients. They have different options for military personnel that have not yet received their G.I. Bills. Pell grants and the Federal student education opportunity grants provide up to $4,000 for higher education assistance.

    Grants for GED tests in Tennessee

    • A GED test costs about $60 dollars. The state of Tennessee has begun a grant program for those who cannot afford the fee. $500,000 in federal funds has been set aside to pay for GED testing. The state pays for only one test.
