Side Effects of Mylanta 400 mg

Mylanta Maximum Strength is an oral antacid used to relieve heartburn, indigestion, sour stomach and gas. It contains 400mg each of aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide, which neutralize acid. It also contains 40mg of simethicone, which alleviates gas.

    • Common side effects of Mylanta Maximum Strength include diarrhea and constipation. This medication can also lower phosphate levels in the body if used for long periods of time, which may result in loss of appetite, fatigue or muscle weakness. Tell your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.

    Rare Side Effects

    • Uncommon but serious side effects may include dizziness, fainting, black, tarry stools, slow, shallow breathing, irregular heartbeat, confusion, pain with urination, abdominal pain or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.

    Allergic Reactions

    • Allergic reaction to Mylanta Maximum Strength is rare. However, seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of the following allergy symptoms: rash, itching and swelling of the face, throat or tongue, severe dizziness or difficulty breathing.

    Precautions

    • Ask a doctor before taking Mylanta Maximum Strength if you are under 12 years of age, have kidney disease or are taking a prescription medication.
