      Diagnose the computer keyboard to find out what is wrong with it. Press one key at a time. Note the keys that don't respond.

    Getting Started

      Disassemble the outer case of the computer keyboard. From the underside, remove the three Allen screws. Lift the keyboard assembly out of the base.

    Test

      Remove the two ribbon cables from the computer keyboard assembly. Test the keyboard encoder. If this test is successful, then the keyboard needs replacing.

    Check

      Test the keys that did not respond. If these keys are not bad, then the encoder chip is bad. Otherwise, disassemble the keyboard assembly for repair.

    Finish

    • After repairing the computer keyboard, then test it. If the test passed, reattach the keyboard assembly cables. Put the keyboard back together.
