Liver & Abdominal Pain

Liver & Abdominal Pain thumbnail
If your liver fails suddenly, you could die in just one day.

When you have pain in the abdomen, it does not always mean that the liver is involved. Abdominal pain could in reality be complications with the lungs, pancreas, stomach, kidneys, colon, intestines or gall bladder. There are several reasons why abdominal pain would be associated with the liver.

  1. Hepatoma

    • Liver cancer, or hepatoma, could be a cause of abdominal pain among sufferers.

    Hepatitis

    • Any type of hepatitis, a disease that inflames the liver, could cause pain around the abdomen.

    Hemochromatosis

    • Some sufferers of hemochromatosis, a disease where the body stores too much iron, have little or no symptoms. Those that do illustrate symptoms experience abdominal pain, as well as fatigue, heart problems and loss of sexual appetite.

    Fatty Liver Disease

    • Fatty liver disease occurs when the body ingests and stores too many fat cells. Fatty liver disease can cause abdominal pain, but the real threat comes when fatty liver develops into a more serious disease, like cirrhosis.

    Autoimmune Hepatitis

    • This disease occurs when the immune system attacks the liver. Symptoms include abdominal pain, jaundice, dark urine, achy joints and itching.
