More than 75 years after it first appeared on store shelves, Snickers is still one of the best-selling candy bars of all time. With a following of loyal fans who consider Snickers a tasty combination of ingredients, it isn't hard to see why more than 15 million of the bars are produced daily.

  1. Beginning

    • The Snickers bar was invented by Frank Mars in 1930, simply by adding the chocolate coating to an already popular treat. Snickers first sold for 5 cents each.

    Varieties

    • Snickers are available in a variety of sizes, including regular, king size, fun size and miniatures. Other varieties of Snickers are Snickers Fudge, Snickers Almond, Snickers Dark and Snickers Ice Cream. Until 1990, Snickers was known as Marathon in the United Kingdom.

    Ingredients

    • Mars, Incorporated says the Snickers bar contains roasted peanuts, nougat, caramel and milk chocolate. The list of ingredients includes corn syrup, sugar, milk, butter, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, salt, eggs and flavoring.
