Patients who have Meniere's disease can experience the same symptoms as patients who suffer from migraines, according to "What Exacerbates Meniere's Disease," a 2006 document from the Loyola University Health System.

  1. Similar Symptoms

    • Migraine sufferers and patients who have Meniere's disease experience headache, vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, double vision, nausea, and vomiting.

    Comparison

    • Up to 15 percent of the population suffers from migraines and up to 30 percent of people diagnosed with Meniere's disease can be migraine sufferers.

    Link

    • In the March 2008 issue of the "Journal of the National Medical Association", it is stated that the high occurrence of migraine when Meniere's disease is diagnosed indicates that there is a strong relationship between the two.

    Diet

    • As with migraine, people diagnosed with Meniere's disease should pay close attention to their diet. Sodium, caffeine, chocolate and alcohol top the list of items where reduced consumption is encouraged.

    Treatment

    • People suffering from Meniere's disease and migraine should see a neuro-otology or neurology specialist. Medication will be prescribed to reduce the number of headaches.
