What Is an EAP File Type?

A .eap file is an Enterprise Architect Project file created by Sparx Systems's Enterprise Architect software engineering tool, to store information on collaborative or group software or system design and creation work.

  1. Opening a .eap File

    • Because a .eap file is created by one particular piece of software, having the Enterprise Architect software on your computer is necessary to properly open it. If Enterprise Architect is installed on your computer, you should be able to open the file by simply double-clicking on it.

    Acquiring Enterprise Architect

    • If you do not have Enterprise Architect, the Windows version can be purchased from the Sparx Systems website.

    Other Operating Systems

    • Because Enterprise Architect is only available for Windows systems, it is not possible to properly open a .eap file on a Macintosh or Linux computer, although it may be possible to bring it up in a database or text editing program.

    Other Software

    • Because a .eap file is a database, you may be able to open one in another database program such as Microsoft Access. Sometimes, it may be possible to open a .eap file in a text editing program, but doing so is not likely to return intelligible text.

    Contents

    • A .eap file contains information on a software engineering project described in one of several modeling languages. The Unified Modeling Language is supported by Enterprise Architect.
