Five anxiety disorders exist but the common factor they all have is the difficulties of living a normal day-to-day life. Finding a job is one of those challenges. However, there are many career opportunities available for people with anxiety disorders but it is important to find the best jobs for the specific disorder.

General Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

Jobs that require a person to be fully engaged to avoid exaggerated worrying are ideal. Consider database entry, managing a very busy restaurant or hotel, and accounting.

Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD)

People with OCPD should consider jobs that require their detail-orientated skills with their preference for rules and regulations such as: the military, financial management and travel agency.

Panic Disorder

Panic attacks often occur unexpectedly which is important when considering a career. It is best to find jobs that decrease the stress like a yoga instructor, editor or baking.

Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)

People with social phobias do not work well that require social skills; however, they excel in solitary jobs such as: graphic design, writer and animal care.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Any career that may involve the possibility of trauma, physical harm, violent assaults or any danger should be avoided. However, jobs that require the mind are ideal, like: software engineering, proof-reader an IT technician.
