Medical Bladder Problems

The urinary bladder is a hollow, muscular organ in the body. It collects urine ,which is excreted by the kidneys. Medical bladder problems may range from mild to severe.

  1. Urinary Incontinence

    • Urinary Incontinence is the loss of bladder control, which may affect both younger and older patients. Symptoms may include mild leakage or heavy wetting. Treatments may include surgery, special devices, medicines or exercises.

    Prostate Cancer

    • Prostate cancer occurs with abnormal cell growth in a man's prostate gland, which is located below the bladder. This cancer may be treated with hormone therapy, surgery or radiation based on age and overall health.

    Multiple Sclerosis

    • Multiple sclerosis is a neurological disease that affects the immune system. Treatments for multiple sclerosis may include regular physical therapy and medications such as corticosteroids to help reduce inflammation.

    Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

    • Benign prostatic hyperplasia occurs when the male prostate gland enlarges, which may cause difficult and painful urination. Patients with bladder stones or a bladder infection may require surgical or medical treatment.

    Bladder Cancer

    • Bladder cancer may occur in the bladder lining and cause symptoms, including low back pain and painful urination. Treatments for bladder cancer may include surgery, chemotherapy or radiation.
