The Job Corps provides vocational training to teens.

The Job Corps is the largest technical career training program in the U.S. Administered by the Department of Labor, this voluntary program offers those who are at least 16 years old the education and experience to pursue a career.

  1. Eligibility

    • An applicant must be at least 16 years old and a citizen of the U.S. in order to participate in the Job Corps. Additionally, candidates must meet specific income requirements that vary based on personal situation.

    Outreach and Admissions

    • Outreach and Admissions is the first step in the Job Corps admissions process. At this time, students get an overview of the program, learning how it will benefit them.

    Career Preparation Period

    • Following OA, students spend the next 60 days in a career preparation program, where they are schooled on various job search and soft skills needed to successfully find a job and perform in a working environment.

    Career Development Period

    • During the career development period, students are taught the various technical skills required for their chosen profession. Following this period, a job search is initiated.

    Career Transition Period

    • Once a student has successfully landed a job, the Job Corps keeps in touch with the students at regular intervals to ensure that a successful transition into the workforce has been made.
