Can You Mix Chamomile & Lavender Oil With Body Oil?

Lavender and chamomile essential oils can be added to any body oil. Ideally it is best to use an unscented oil as a base, such as olive oil. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Lavender

    • Lavender is used frequently in perfumery and aromatherapy. The pleasing scent helps to reduce anxiety and tension. This is generally an inexpensive herb.

    Chamomile

    • Chamomile essential oil is dark blue in color and can be very expensive. Creating an infused oil using dried herb is a cost-effective alternative.

    Infused Oils

    • Using a crock pot on the lowest setting add dried herbs and cover with olive oil. Cook without boiling for one hour for leafy herbs and two hours for roots and bark. Strain and store in a cool dry place.

    Essential Oils

    • Essential oils are the product of distillation. The oils are a concentrated form of the herb and therefore should be used sparingly.

    Safety

    • Chamomile and lavender are generally considered to be safe. However, people who are allergic to ragweed should avoid using chamomile. It also shouldn't be consumed internally in large quantities during pregnancy. Lavender should be avoided if an allergic reaction develops.
