The Job Description of a Cable TV Station Manager

A cable TV station manager is the the chief operating officer of a cable television station, and is responsible for coordinating and managing all activities of the station's television broadcasting locally or nationally.

  1. Education Required

    • Educational requirements include a bachelor's degree in journalism or a related discipline. Significant professional experience in a similar role can replace a bachelor's degree.

    Skills

    • Because these occupations include overseeing all aspects of the station, most employers will require extensive experience and knowledge of broadcast operations.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinating all activities includes overseeing programming, financial budgets and the buying and selling of media services. Managing, hiring and training the station's staff is also required for this occupation

    Reporting Structure

    • This occupation reports directly to the station owner or board of directors on a monthly or quarterly basis to review the station's activities and profitability.
