Sugar cravings are usually the effects of lifestyle.

Sugar cravings can attack morning, noon or night. However, cravings are often the effects of lifestyle, which can be easily changed. Strong or persistent sugar cravings may also be warning signs of developing health problems.

  1. Exhaustion

    Weak Digestion

    • If you have a weak digestive system, you likely have low serotonin levels. According to PhysOrg.com, serotonin is known as the "feel-good hormone" that releases insulin into your body. When you eat sugar, blood sugar levels spike, creating a feeling of well-being, but ultimately leading to a drop in serotonin.

    Stress

    Low-Fat Diet

    • Low-fat, high-carbohydrate diets can lead to insulin resistance, which means that your body ignores insulin. When this happens, your cells have difficulty absorbing glucose, and you will experience constant cravings.

    Warning

    • Obesity, diabetes and heart disease are linked to insulin resistance. Talk to your doctor if you think insulin resistance is causing your sugar cravings.
