Symptoms of a Bruised Spleen

The spleen helps the body with infection control and blood circulation. Symptoms of a bruised spleen may include nausea and vomiting, signs of shock, left upper abdominal pain, tenderness and back pain.

  1. Nausea and Vomiting

    Signs of Shock

    • Bruised spleen symptoms may show in the left upper abdomen. Individuals may experience tenderness and radiating pain, which can reach the left shoulder.

    Tenderness

    • Spleen patients may experience tenderness. Physicians feel the abdomen and ask the patient about soreness and how long the tenderness has been present.

    Back Pain

    • Spleen patients may have unusual symptoms such as back pain. The pain may be mild or moderate and begin in the lower lumbar region.
