Road Hazard Safety
Safety on the road is encouraged to eliminate and/or reduce the amount of vehicular accidents and collisions on the roadway. On the road accidents kill more people than any other form of transportation, including buses, planes and ships.
-
Cell Phone Use
-
People who use cell phones have a higher chance of causing accidents than those who pay full attention on the road.
Texting While Driving
-
Text messages require an allotted time to look down and read the message. Reaction time is eliminated when texting and causes accidents and collisions.
-
Speed
-
The World Health Organization (WHO) says that speed contributes to at least 30 percent of road traffic crashes and deaths. Slow down for safety.
Safe Driving Distance
-
Follow the "three-second rule" to safely follow a vehicle. If you are too close to the vehicle before you finish counting to three, you're too close. Heavier cars are a reason to be more cautious of your distance, because heavier cars cause more damage.
Avoid Alcohol
-
According to WHO, any level of alcohol in the blood increases the risk of car crashes. Do not drink and drive.
