What Can Boost Your Fertility After Stopping the Birth Control Pill?
Deciding to come off the pill is a big step. Suddenly you are working toward the very thing you had been avoiding for years. So imagine the disappointment of thousands of women when they don't get pregnant right away. How can you boost your fertility as soon as those pills have hit the trash can?

Time
-
This is hard to hear, but the most important way to boost your fertility is to give it some time. The hormones in birth control pills will leave your body within a few days, but now it is up to your body to start back up its natural processes. It might take a few months before you start ovulating again. If you have been on birth control for many years it might also take your body some time before it starts producing cervical fluid again, which is needed to keep sperm mobile and alive.
Relax
-
The first couple of months trying to conceive after birth control pills might be disappointing. Don't let yourself get stressed. Tense emotions will send the wrong message to your body. It is saying: "Now isn't a good time to have a baby, so let's hold off for another month." If you find yourself worrying too much, learn some relaxation techniques or join a local yoga class. Some cities even have special fertility yoga.

Balance Your Diet
-
Birth control pills can deplete your body of certain vitamins, such as vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin C, magnesium and zinc. If you aren't healthy enough for a baby your body isn't going to let you have one.
Take Vitamin B6 Daily
-
Vitamin B6 can be found in meats, whole grains, vegetables and nuts. You can also take B6 as a vitamin supplement. Even if you are healthy enough to ovulate, your body will still have trouble implanting a newly fertilized egg if you are lacking B6.
Chart Your Fertility
-
By observing specific signs of fertility, such as your daily temperature, cervical fluid pattern and cervix position, you can easily determine when and if you are ovulating. This is helpful after discontinuing birth control pills, when your cycle tends to be more unpredictable. You can use the information your chart gives you to properly time intercourse or decide if it is time to see a doctor.
