Wrinkles between eyebrows

There are a variety of treatments available for reducing the amount or depth of the wrinkles between the eyebrows. Surgery, which is more permanent, is less recommended for eyebrow wrinkles than for improvement of the lower two-thirds of the face. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Botox

    • Botox is a neurotoxic protein used to paralyze the underlying muscle. With eyebrow wrinkles, botox is one of the most effective treatments known; it's considered more effective than surgery, especially if the patient is under the age of 40.

    Resurfacing

    • If the lines aren't very deep, resurfacing through the usage of chemical peels may control the wrinkles. Resurfacing treatments include chemical peels, microdermabrasion and laser treatments.

    Argireline Cream

    • A new topical cream called Argireline, which has similar effects to Botox, is available to treat eyebrow wrinkles. Its main advantage over botox is not requiring injections. It's also non-toxic, compared to Botox, which can result in botulism.

    How They Came to Be

    • Any kind of strong expression that results in furrowing your eyebrows, including anger, stress and habit can cause wrinkles. With the breakdown of collagen and elastin, the furrowing results in wrinkles and becomes embedded in your skin; the wrinkles become apparent even when the muscles aren't in use.

    Prevention/Solution

    • It's highly recommended to exercise your facial muscles by lifting your eyebrows into a "surprised" expression and holding for two minutes, several times a day. This extends the muscles behind your wrinkles, improves your mood and, hopefully, breaks the habit of furrowing your eyebrows.
