Reason for Washing New Bedding
Purchasing new bedding is exciting because it can transform the look of your bedroom, but consider washing the bedding before you place it on the bed. Washing new bedding improves its fit, cleanliness and feel. Does this Spark an idea?

Most store policies allow you to purchase bedding and return it as long as it is in the original package. Even though your bedding is new to you, it may have been opened in someone else's home and picked up some germs along the way.

Exposure to pet dander, dust or smoke causes allergic reactions in many people, and you can't guarantee your sheets haven't picked up some of these things on their journey to you.

High thread count and printed bedding often feels rough when it is new. Washing it a few times results in a softer texture.

Cotton bedding shrinks the first time you wash and dry it, which helps it fit your bed more correctly. An overly large fitted sheet often wrinkles and does not sit smoothly on the mattress.

Folding your sheets when they are just out of the dryer will keep them smooth and wrinkle-free and allow you to skip the ironing.
