Batting helmets have become a necessity, for children starting T-ball and adults playing in the pros. They are the rule of thumb for all levels of baseball and softball, and the latest designs have helped curb the instances of concussions and serious head injuries in players.

T-Ball player The T-Ball USA Association rules require players to wear a helmet while batting or on base. While not a rule, some coaches have infielders wear helmets if they are available.
Little League Baseball

Little Leaguers Little League rules require all batters, base runners and field coaches to wear helmets. Helmets must have the NOCSAE (National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment) certification seal and cannot be painted or bear decals without manufacturer approval.
