How Do Bach Flower Essences Work?

Bach flower essences were developed in Britain by Dr. Edward Bach. There are 38 official Bach flower remedies that can be administered to adults, children and pets.

  1. Function

    • Bach flower essences are thought to work by neutralizing negative emotions and states of mind.

    Production

    • Bach flower essences are produced by hand in England and are made by boiling or steeping wild flowers with spring water to create an infusion. The Bach flower remedies also contain brandy which acts as a preservative.

    Dosage

    • A few drops of a Bach flower essence can be taken undiluted under the tongue or two drops can be added to a glass of water. BachFlower.com recommends taking four drops of the essence four times a day.

    Topical Application

    • Bach flower essences can also be applied behind the ear or on the inside the wrist.

    Uses

    • According to the Bach Centre, a few of the things Bach flower essences can be used to treat are fear, fatigue, lack of motivation, excessive excitability and depression.
