About Pellet Stove Technology

Pellet stoves have advanced technologically since they emerged into popularity over the last few years as a response to high and volatile prices for fossil fuels. New models allow the user to simply add wood pellet fuel to the unit, and watch the appliance perform its job. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Thermostat Control

    • Earlier models of pellet stoves had to be manually adjusted by users to regulate the temperature. In newer models, the pellet stove has a thermostat that automatically adjusts the output of the pellet stove to the desired room temperature.

    Battery Backup

    • Since pellet stoves require electricity to operate, recent models have incorporated battery backups into the system. These backup batteries kick into use if the electricity is no longer supplied to the pellet stove.

    Whole House Heating

    • Pellet stoves can be used to heat an entire house. The PF105 pellet boiler manufactured by Harman Stoves can put out enough energy to heat a 2,500 square foot house.

    Alternative Fuel

    • Pellet stoves traditionally burn wood pellets, but newer models have incorporated the ability to burn other biomass fuel pellets, including pellets made out of corn, wheat or barley.

    Conveyor System

    • Modern pellet stoves have a fuel hopper that stores up to 50 lbs. of wood pellets. The wood pellets are automatically fed into the system when needed without any intervention by the user.
