Both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are incurable conditions. However, there are effective treatments available for both that can slow the progression of the disease and treat symptoms.

This kind of arthritis is the result of repeated use of the joints. The joint lining becomes inflamed because of the breakdown of cartilage.

For pain, both kinds of arthritis may be treated with prescription pain medications such as Ultram. Also, when there is severe damage, joint replacement surgery may be considered as an option.
