Alcohol & Drug Education

Alcohol and drug classes focus on learning about drugs and what to do in a situation if drugs are involved. Alcohol and drug education is a part of the standard K-12 curriculum.

Goal

The goal of alcohol and drug education is to create a safe, drug-free environment. As a preemptive measure, educators start teaching children at a young age about the dangers of drugs.

Classroom Seminars

Alcohol and drug education may include classroom seminars led by a local police officer. The officer will lecture children on what to do if they are confronted with alcohol and/or drugs.

Focus

Drug and alcohol education focuses on decision-making and problem-solving skills. Building self-confidence and teaching students how to handle peer pressure are also important.

Continuous Education

As children grow into adolescents, alcohol and drug education is blended into their regular classes, including English, health and science.

Community

The community plays an important part in alcohol and drug education. Parents and other members of the community can all contribute.
