A floral arrangement lets mourners know you care.

A child's funeral is a sad event, but you can show the family that you care and are thinking of them by sending a floral arrangement to either the funeral home or their own home. There are many different types of arrangements to choose from.

  1. Size

    • An appropriate arrangement for a child's funeral is similar to an adult's, but with a few changes. For one thing, such an arrangement will generally be a little smaller, so as not to overshadow the child.

    Color

    • The flowers will generally be brightly colored, like yellow daisies or purple tulips. Picking a color that is the child's favorite can be very special to the family. With the different dyes available to florists these days, you can find flowers in every color.

    Shape

    • Floral arrangements are often made in the shape of crosses or hearts, but for a child you can request just about any shape you want. If the child loved kites, have the florist arrange the flowers to look like a kite flying overhead.

    Special Pieces

    • Small toys are very appropriate at a child's funeral. Stuffed teddy bears, small trucks filled with flowers, or even a doll are acceptable.

    Note Cards

    • Whatever flower arrangement you choose, be sure to include a personal note with the arrangement, letting the parents and family of the child know that you are thinking of them and that you are there for them if they need anything. They will appreciate that more than even the flowers.
