Foods That Fight Pain
It's estimated that conditions of chronic pain, such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis and pain due to poor circulation, affect half of Americans, according to BeyondChronicPain.com. Though prescription medications and painkillers may be prescribed to counteract pain and bring relief, eating certain types of food may also help to alleviate symptoms.

An apple a day may keep inflammation at bay. Research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition indicates that foods rich in beta-cryptoxanthin, such as fruit, may help prevent individuals from developing inflammatory joint conditions.
Anti-Inflammatory

Certain foods contain anti-inflammatory properties that can help ease chronic joint and muscle pain. Good examples are oranges, apples, lemons, strawberries, tomatoes, avocados, broccoli, garlic, spinach, sweet potatoes, basil, mint, parsley, almonds, walnuts, flaxseed, cod, salmon, tuna and olive oil.

The color compound in vegetables might help the body stay strong. Flavanoids give color to fruits and vegetables and are thought to help slow degeneration of the body, which may be helpful to chronic pain sufferers. Good sources of this compound are apples, green tea, soy, onions and grapes.
