What Are the Duties of a Caregiver in an Assisted Living Home?
Caregivers are responsible for a number of daily chores in assisted living homes. Their care is essential to the health of those for whom they care. Caregivers do whatever is necessary for patients to remain in their own homes.

Daily Grooming

Shaving Kit Caregivers help patients in assisted living homes with their daily hygiene. Hair, oral and skin care, as well as shaving are part of their routines. Caregivers help patients dress and undress if necessary.
Toileting

Elderly Woman Caregivers help patients with their toileting needs. Some patients wear paper undergarments to protect their skin from toileting accidents, and caregivers may assist with changing them. Other patients need assistance to the bathroom at scheduled times.

Walking and Exercise

Walker Part of caregivers' duties include helping patients with daily exercises required to keep the patient mobile. Many patients need assistance walking on a regular basis.
Cooking

Cooking Hotdogs In an assisted living home, the caregiver generally cooks the meals and serves the patient. Some patients need to be fed while others just need some assistance.
Emotional Support

Elderly Patients need ample support in the assisted living setting. Caregivers must keep the needs of the people they are caring for in the forefront of their minds.
