Symptoms of Tomato Plants Not Having Enough Water

Tomato plants need regular watering to produce the best fruits. Insufficient water can cause a variety of symptoms on the fruits, leaves and stems of tomato plants. These symptoms may also have other causes besides not having enough water.

    No Fruit

  1. Tomatoes may not produce fruit when they don't get enough water or the temperature is too high. Some climates may require a heat-resistant strain in order to grow tomatoes that will produce fruit.
  2. Cracking

  3. The skin on the tomato fruit may crack when it grows rapidly during highly variable weather and watering conditions. This can be treated with regular watering or drought-resistant cultivars.
  4. Blossom End Rot

  5. Blossom end rot occurs when improper watering or temperatures cause the ends to the tomato vine to become black. This can be avoided by proper watering and planting your tomatoes when the temperature is stable.
  6. Wilting leaves

  7. Wilting leaves can be caused by insufficient water, high temperatures or lack of moisture in the soil.
  8. Yellow Leaves

  9. Yellow tomato leaves in the absence of diseases or insects is also known as leaf scorching. It may be caused by insufficient water, high temperatures or too much salt in the soil.
