Side Effects
-
Gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting or diarrhea may occasionally occur. Pregnant animals taking Baytril may have a litter with lower birth weight than normal. The most serious side effects seen specifically in cats result when a cat is given a dose of 20 mg or more per kilogram of body weight. In those instances, there are rare reports of lesions forming on the eye, resulting in injury with the potential for blindness. As a result, the manufacturer's recommendation requires that cats be given no more than 5mg/kg of body weight per day.
Dangers
-
There are no toxic or life-threatening side effects that result from taking Baytril at recommended dosages.
Relief
-
Side effects will subside when the cat stops taking Baytril.
