Supplements for Adrenal Glands

The adrenal glands are important glands located just above the kidneys that need a variety of chemicals to function properly and perform tasks necessary for proper health. Some supplementation is more important than others.

  1. The Adrenal Glands

    • The adrenal glands are located on top of each kidney, and are responsible for the production of adrenaline and cortisone. Poorly functioning adrenal glands can lead to a host of problems and disorders, such as Addison's disease. President John F. Kennedy was a well-known sufferer of Addison's disease.

    Essential Supplements

    • Essential supplementation for properly functioning adrenal glands include vitamin B6, other B-complex vitamins and vitamin C.

    L-Tyrosine

    • L-Tyrosine helps reduce stress placed on the adrenal glands and aids in adrenal function. It is an amino acid that not only aids in adrenal function, but also promotes effective neurological function and is important in thyroid function.

    Adrenal Extract

    • Adrenal extract, which is produced from the adrenal cortexes of beef animals (such as cows and bulls), contains protein that can aid in repairing damaged adrenal glands and prevent damage to healthy ones. It can also aid people with malfunctioning adrenal glands by supplying some of the adrenal-produced chemicals to the body.

    Helpful Supplements

    • There are numerous other supplements that can aid, either primarily or secondarily, the function of the adrenal glands, including chlorophyll (cleansing the blood), Coenzyme Q10 (aids in oxygen delivery), Germanium (stimulates the immune system), Liver extract (excellent source of vitamins and enzymes), and copper and zinc (which aid in the function of all glands in the body).
