The Better Sleep Council recommends using full size beds for one sleeper only and for those whose height measures less than five foot five inches.

You can use queen size sheets and even a queen size coverlet or duvet cover on a full size bed. However, you must use a full size bed skirt, bedspread or fitted coverlet, as these items are tailored to fit the exact dimensions of the full size mattress.

Different countries have different standard sizes for beds. For example, the standard size of a full size mattress from countries in the European Union measures 55 inches wide by 79 inches long, which would be too large to fit an American full size bed.
