Pregnant women should always wear sunscreen, as their skin can be more sensitive. All sunscreen products should be safe for pregnant women, however a doctor will be able to confirm if the ingredients are safe.

Pregnant women can have an increased sensitivity to the sun and be more susceptible to burning.
Using Sunscreen

An SPF of at least 40 is recommended for pregnant women. Sunscreen can, and should, be used by pregnant women. Women should apply the sunscreen at regular intervals to ensure constant coverage. An SPF of at least 40 is recommended.

Other Precautions to Take

Along with sunscreen application, pregnant women can take other precautions to prevent burning. Pregnant women should limit their time in the sun and wear protective clothing such as hats while exposed.
Measures to Take if Sunburn Occurs

Pregnant women who suffer from a sunburn can use typical remedies such as aloe vera gel, moisturizers or oatmeal baths. Lidocaine sprays or oral medications should not be used without checking with a doctor first.
The 'Mask of Pregnancy'

Exposure to the sun can also cause chloasma, or melasma, which is a condition where the forehead, upper cheeks and upper lips of the pregnant woman turn a brown color. This condition should disappear after the pregnancy. Avoiding exposure to the sun when necessary and using sunscreen frequently can prevent this.
