There are a variety of grants available for students, including government grants and financial assistance to students enrolling in cosmetology schools and other vocational programs that are not four-year institutions.

    Types

  1. Cosmetology scholarships can be based on financial need, merit or specific areas within the beauty field that a student plans to work in. Unlike loans, grants do not have to be paid back.
  2. Government Grants

  3. Students can apply for federally based grants and funding by filling out and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at Fafsa.ed.gov.
  4. ACE Grant

  5. The American Association of Cosmetology Schools awards ACE Grants to help cover the cost of beauty school.
  6. School-Based Grants

  7. Many beauty schools award their own grants to help cover tuition. Search for beauty schools by region and area of specialization at BeautySchoolsDirectory.com.
  8. Scholarships

  9. Beauty-school funding may be available in the form of a scholarship from the American Health & Beauty Aids Institute or the National Coalition of Estheticians. See BeautySchoolNetwork for scholarship information.
  10. Online Database

  11. SpaBeautyEd.com allows users to explore additional organizations that offer funding. It includes a list of scholarship resources, including the American Association of University Women, American Specialty Health Scholarship, and the Spa Foundation Scholarship, to name just a few.
